MANGALORE NIT-K student wins gold medal

MANGALORE: Hari Shankar Manikanthan, final year BE mechanical engineering student, was adjudged the best all-round talented outgoing student of National Institute of Technology - Karnataka (NIT-K), Suratkal. He has won the Corporation Bank's gold medal for the academic year 2009-10.

B R Bhat, general manager of the bank presented the gold medal to Hari Shankar Manikanthan at the ring presentation ceremony. A bank press release here on Tuesday stated the bank, in order to reward toppers and motivate students to excel, awards gold medals for best outgoing students of 25 colleges across India.

The colleges are selected on the basis of national ranking and their standing in their respective districts and places. The distribution is based not only on geographical locations across India, but also across various disciplines like engineering, and medicine. S S Mantha, chairman, AICTE, New Delhi and Sandeep Sancheti, director, NIT-K were present on this occasion.
